Hutto Roofing By Situation And Roof Problem
This page is a router rather than another service page. Find what is actually happening to your roof and go straight to the page that deals with it. Nearly everyone arrives at a roofing site with a problem rather than a service in mind, so that is how this is organised.
Call (737) 306-0017Free roof estimate
Tell us the address and what you are seeing, or call (737) 306-0017. If the honest answer is that your roof has years left in it, that is what you will be told.
No obligation. The report is yours whether or not you hire us.
Nine situations, and where each one goes
Find yours on the left. If water is coming into the house right now, start at the top.
The question underneath most of these
Repair or replace. It gets answered by walking the roof and looking in the attic, not from the driveway — localised damage on a sound roof repairs well and lasts, while a roof that has gone brittle across the whole field will have patches chasing failures around it for years.
If you want to work through it yourself first, Signs you need a new roof is the honest checklist, and How long does a roof last covers what the published service lives actually mean in Central Texas heat.
Or start from the symptom
Four things homeowners describe, and what each one usually turns out to be.
House, business, and the full service list
Residential or commercial is decided by slope, not by who owns the building
A house has a steep-slope roof that sheds water in seconds, covered in overlapping shingles or interlocking panels. A commercial building mostly has a low-slope roof where water moves slowly toward drains and sits in the meantime, which needs a continuous membrane with sealed seams.
Different materials, different failure points, different safety equipment, and in practice different crews. Which is why a patio cover on a house is a low-slope roof even though the house is residential — worth saying before anyone quotes it as shingle work. That case has its own page: Flat roof installation Hutto TX.
Four more situations, each with its own page
An insurance claim, a whole-house roof, a roofer you need tonight, and the porch or patio cover that leaks every hard rain.
Four more questions, each with its own page
Two gutter jobs that are not the same job, and two inspection questions that are not the same question.
Five more situations, each with its own page
Skylights get two pages because adding one and fixing one are different jobs. The other three are for homeowners who want a repair that holds, an inspection fitted to their situation, or just a quick look.
Which inspection page is yours
Five pages here deal with inspections, because homeowners arrive with five different questions. If you want an inspection booked, that is the roofing inspection service. If you are trying to work out whether an inspector's credentials mean anything, that is certified roof inspection. If you need a written report for a sale, a claim or a lender, that is roof evaluation. If you want the inspection fitted to why you need it, that is residential roof inspection. And if you just want someone to take a quick look after a storm or at one spot that worries you, that is a roof check.
Texas does not license roofing contractors
This is the single most useful thing to know before you call anyone in this state, including us.
There is no statewide roofing contractor license in Texas. No exam, no classification, no board to check, and no number to look up. Which means “licensed and insured” carries far less weight here than most homeowners assume — the second half of that phrase is doing all the work, and the first half is frequently doing none.
So verification has to come from somewhere else. Three things that are actually checkable:
An insurance certificate sent to you directly by the insurer, not forwarded by the contractor. General liability and workers’ compensation both. A certificate that arrives as a PDF from the roofer is a document you cannot verify.
Manufacturer certification for the specific product being installed. In a state with no licensing ladder this is the closest available proxy, it is searchable by zip code on the manufacturer’s own site, and on premium products the warranty frequently depends on it.
A real physical address. Not a PO box, not a virtual suite. After a Central Texas hail event the market fills with operators who will not be reachable next spring, and an address is the cheapest thing to check. If you need someone fast, the full checklist is on Best roofing companies Hutto TX emergency services.
And one thing a contractor cannot legally do for you
In Texas a contractor may not pay, waive, rebate or absorb your insurance deductible. If someone offers, that should end the conversation — the usual mechanism is an inflated invoice to the carrier, which puts a false claim in your name rather than theirs.
Acting as a public insurance adjuster is also a licensed role in Texas, so a roofer being paid for the repair should not be negotiating your claim. The boundary is set out on Storm damage insurance claims, and the Hutto-specific version, including the percentage deductible, is on Roof insurance claims in Hutto TX.
Before you call anyone
Where do I start if water is coming in right now?
Call (737) 306-0017, then get the house stabilised before anything is diagnosed. Those are two different visits and they should not be confused: stopping water is done in whatever conditions exist, and finding the actual source is done in daylight on a dry roof. Emergency roof repair Hutto TX covers the sequence.
How do I know whether I need a repair or a replacement?
By having the roof walked and the attic looked at. Localised damage on a roof with life left in it repairs well and lasts; a roof that has gone brittle across the whole field will have patches chasing failures around it. Anyone answering that question from the driveway is guessing.
Is a roofing contractor in Texas licensed?
No. Texas does not issue a statewide roofing contractor license, so there is no exam, no classification and no state board to check. That makes the phrase “licensed and insured” weaker here than most homeowners assume, and it means verification has to come from elsewhere: an insurance certificate sent directly by the insurer, manufacturer certification for the specific product being installed, and a real physical address.
Why is the stain on my ceiling nowhere near the hole?
Because water that gets past the shingles runs along the top of the decking until it finds a fastener hole, a seam or a joint, and drops there. The distance is frequently several feet. It is why patching directly above the stain so often fails, and why a leak has to be traced from above rather than guessed from below.
What does roofing cost in this area?
It depends on roof size, pitch, height, access, decking condition and material, which is why a single figure is not useful. Texas roofing cost sets out what moves a price and roughly where the ranges sit, and a free estimate turns that into a real number for your roof.
Do you work outside Hutto?
Yes — Hutto, Austin and the surrounding Central Texas area. Coverage detail is on Roofing service areas in Central Texas, and if you are on the edge of it we will tell you honestly rather than quote a drive we cannot sustain.
Find out what your roof actually needs
We get on the roof where it is safe to walk it and into the attic underneath, photograph what we find, and put it in writing — yours to keep, use for an insurance claim, or hand to another contractor for a competing quote. If the roof has years left in it, that is what the report will say.

Serving Hutto, Austin and surrounding Central Texas. ESTIMATES AND RANGES: any figure referenced on the linked cost guide is for budgeting rather than quotation; a firm price requires a physical inspection, because roof size, pitch, height, access, decking condition and material all move it. Project durations are typical rather than guaranteed and depend on roof size, complexity, weather and material availability. Product service lives are manufacturer specifications for the specific product and should be read on its documentation. Warranty terms are set by the manufacturer, vary by product and installer certification, and transfer provisions should be read on the certificate itself. HOA covenants and any applicable permitting are the property owner’s responsibility to confirm. Insurance coverage, deductible structure and covered perils vary by policy and carrier — read your declarations page. We are not a public insurance adjuster and do not adjust, negotiate or settle insurance claims; coverage decisions are made by you and your carrier. Texas does not issue a statewide roofing contractor license; verify any roofer on insurance certificates sent directly by the insurer and on manufacturer certification for the specific product quoted.
